Our Energy Efficiency Project has seen significantly better results than we expected from our first phase of work.
Our project began earlier this year to ensure properties reach a minimum of Band C on their Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by 2025 - that's five years ahead of the government's target. The project will make our properties more efficient, reduce our carbon footprint and help reduce customer energy bills.
We are working with Low Carbon Exchange on the project and have recently finished our first phase of work in Chard, Somerset. Before we carried out the work, the properties EPC recorded Band D and E on performance. Today, the homes record EPC Band A and B.
Results from the Chard properties have also shown a 40-60% reduction in home energy consumption and more than half the carbon emissions created, helping reduce customer energy bills and our organisation's carbon footprint.
The project will identify areas of high priority and carry our improvements using renewable technology. The work includes installing solar panels, smart water heating, improved ventilation and draft proofing, fuel switching and additional insulation.
