Condensation, damp and mould is more likely it occur during the winter but there are plenty of simple steps you can take to avoid this:

Ensure extractor fans are switched on and free from dust – give them a hoover and wipe them down to keep them running smoothly.

Keep a moderate level of heating in your home.

Don’t cover vents or air pricks.

Use an extractor fan or open a window when cooking, bathing or showering and leave the fan running or window open for at least 10 minutes after you’ve finished. If your fan doesn’t work properly, book a repair through My Yarlington.

Keep your rooms aired by opening windows for 10-15 minutes and make sure window vents are kept open.

If you need to dry washing inside, keep your room aired to avoid moisture.

Don’t place damp clothes on radiators or storage heaters as it will stop your rooms heating properly and present a health and safety risk.

Move furniture slightly away from walls so air can circulate behind it.

If you have a tumble dryer, make sure the room it is in is ventilated and close the door when the dryer is in use.

If you notice condensation, wipe it up as soon as you see it so black mould will not grow.
