Council Tax Rebate

From April everyone in Council Tax bands A – D will be eligible for a one off, non-repayable payment of £150 regardless of income. If you’re unsure what band you’re in, you can check here.

This will be payable to all customers even if they don't pay Council Tax because they are in receipt of local council tax support.

There will be a discretionary fund available for those in bands E and above and are on Means Tested benefits. If this applies to you, you should contact your Local Authority for details on how to apply.

What you need to do:

• If you already pay by Direct Debit you don’t need to do anything. Councils will automatically credit your bank account from April


• If you don’t currently pay by Direct Debit it’s a good idea to set it up with your Local Authority before the end of March so you receive the rebate automatically.


• If you don’t pay Council Tax or don't wish to set up a Direct Debit you will be written to asking for payment details. You need to respond to the letter to get the rebate.
